About Gastos Compartidos
Gastos Compartidos (gastoscompartidos.ai) is an Argentine company developing a financial coordination platform for families in shared parenting. It comes from more than a decade of lived experience: the day-to-day difficulty of organizing expenses, receipts, agreements and balances when a family is already navigating separation. The company is AI-native: it uses artificial intelligence across operations, research, development and communications, always with human supervision. The product combines traceable and secure financial record architecture, language designed to reduce friction, and a concrete understanding of a problem that thousands of separated couples still solve with WhatsApp, spreadsheets and memory.

Who We Are
Gastos Compartidos is an AI-native company. That means we use artificial intelligence from day one to research, write, design, code, document and operate faster. We do not see that as a technology medal, but as a tool to build more carefully for a problem many families have needed help with for years.
The product has a personal and concrete origin: more than a decade trying to coordinate shared parenting expenses, living through the lack of an adequate tool and seeing the same problem repeat across many separated couples. The app exists because this pain was too common to keep solving with chats, spreadsheets, screenshots and end-of-month arguments.
It's important to distinguish: we use AI to accelerate the company and assist some flows, but we do not delegate sensitive financial records between participants to AI. Precisely because money coordination between separated families requires trust, we implemented a deterministic, traceable, auditable, secure and private platform for each family group.
We document what we learn because we also want to contribute to a broader conversation about how AI-native products can be built responsibly. But the main story is not that we use AI. The main story is that we want to help real families navigate a difficult part of life with more clarity.
A note on language: we talk about "separated parents" because it's the most recognizable case and the one that triggered the product, but the real scope is broader. Gastos Compartidos is designed for any configuration of shared parenting: separated families, blended families, couples who live together with separate finances, grandparents and other caregivers looking after the kids, LGBTQ+ families with more than two parental figures, and any group of adults who share the financial coordination of raising children. The product adapts to the group, not to marital status.
What Makes Us Unique
Gastos Compartidos is built on three simple pillars: reliable engineering, careful language and lived experience with the problem.
Enterprise engineering for a problem that deserves it
The company is AI-native, but the platform where families record expenses, settle balances and review differences does not delegate financial records to AI. The accounting record is deterministic, traceable, auditable and secure, implemented with criteria from high-criticality financial systems.
We built a double-entry accounting engine, multitenant, with optimistic concurrency, idempotency and complete traceability of each movement. Each family group has its own ledger, isolated and verifiable.
The founding team has over 20 years of professional software engineering experience, with background in banking and financial systems, scalable and secure cloud applications, and multiple industries. We use AI to accelerate implementation and review, but under architecture and standards defined by engineers with real experience in mission-critical systems.
Language designed with family psychology professionals
Most shared expense apps treat money as a math problem. We understand it's an emotional problem. Every word, every notification, every message on the platform was thought through and designed with the input of family psychology professionals and specialists in separation processes and conflictual family dynamics.
Our language is designed to not blame, not create stress, not escalate discussions. Instead, it proposes de-escalation methods, arbitrates differences without creating conflict, and helps bring peace and harmony to one of the most difficult discussion topics between separated parents.
This is a central differentiation. Recording expenses is not enough if the way people ask, observe or respond reignites the conflict. Language is part of the product, not a cosmetic detail.
Lived experience as a design engine
Gastos Compartidos doesn't come from market analysis or a pitch deck. It comes from more than a decade of lived experience navigating financial coordination between separated parents. We know every frustration, every recurring argument, every failed Excel sheet, because we have lived them firsthand.
That experience is what allows us to design a platform that not only solves the technical problem, but understands the emotional weight that every expense, every claim, every end-of-month settlement carries. We don't imagine scenarios: we know them.
How we operate
We work across three complementary layers, each with a specific and well-defined role.
Human supervision
A small human team that defines the vision, makes the critical decisions and oversees the whole operation. Nothing meaningful ships without their approval.
Professional advisory
Human specialists who advise us on the sensitive product decisions: professionals in family psychology with a focus on separation, and experts in communication and language.
AI-native operation
Artificial intelligence applied to research, design, development, documentation and communications, always within the boundaries defined by human supervision.
Logo Pack
The Gastos Compartidos symbol is a rounded square split diagonally, with the two halves slightly separated. The diagonal represents dividing an expense. The two halves represent two people coordinating. Color: Warm Amber #BF792F.

Suggested Angles
A tool for a difficult moment
Splitting expenses between separated families is not only a bookkeeping problem. It is also memory, trust, exhaustion and coexistence. WhatsApp mixes everything, spreadsheets break and generic split apps do not understand the emotional context. A tool purpose-built for this moment was needed.
General media, family, society
De-escalation as product judgment
Gastos Compartidos does not try to win arguments. It tries to reduce the number of arguments. Its language, observations and reports are designed to review concrete facts without turning every expense into a personal claim.
Product, tech, psychology media
AI as assistance, not a replacement for judgment
AI helps explain balances, detect patterns and support everyday use. But family decisions still belong to people. The goal is not to automate relationships, but to create more clarity so people can talk better.
Tech, innovation, product media
A personal copilot for your finances
Every sheet — personal or shared — has an agent that explains what you're looking at, detects patterns and answers questions in natural language. Not another dashboard: a personal financial analyst inside the app.
Fintech, productivity, consumer
From niche to necessity: the timing of a category
With co-parenting consolidating as the predominant family model across LatAm and separations at historic highs, demand for tools dedicated to the logistics of split families has moved from a niche to a widespread need.
Society, trends, family
A common problem that is still underserved
Gastos Compartidos sits at the crossroads of three sectors: FamTech, FinTech and LegalTech. But the starting point is simpler: many separated families still lack a clear, local and careful tool for coordinating parenting expenses.
Business, entrepreneurs, VCs
Corporate wellbeing: the next differentiator in HR
Companies already cover physical health and mental wellbeing programs, but millions of employees silently go through separations, divorces and the logistics of blended families — life events that impact focus, productivity and emotional stability without any traditional corporate benefit backing them up. Gastos Compartidos opens a new category: a concrete tool that eases one of the most silent pains on the team, improves the real wellbeing of the person going through it and, as a natural consequence, their performance at work.
HR, corporate benefits, business
Enterprise-grade quality for a personal problem
Double-entry accounting engine, auditable traceability, 90% global test coverage and 100% on the ledger's critical paths. The kind of engineering you see in B2B fintech, applied to a family product.
Tech media, fintech, software architecture
Mental health / Purpose-driven technology
The app that designed its language alongside psychologists so that splitting expenses doesn't end up splitting families.
Health, wellness, psychology, parenting media
An AI-native company built from Argentina
A company that uses AI in daily operations to research, build, communicate and document faster, without losing human supervision or responsibility over sensitive decisions.
Tech media, business, future of work
Building with AI still needs human experience
AI helps teams move faster, but a sensitive product still needs domain experience, communication judgment, solid engineering and supervision. At Gastos Compartidos, AI amplifies human knowledge. It does not replace it.

Notes for Journalists
- When AI is involved, we disclose it. We do not want it to look like a person if it is not.
- We prefer the story to be about the organization and the collective team, not about an individual person. We do not publish names or personal information of the human team.
- For interviews about AI-native operations, we can respond in written Q&A format and clearly explain what AI does and what remains under human judgment.
- All interviews require prior approval from the human team that supervises the organization.
